As a winemaking legend that had become famous for his work with this varietal, we turned to our winemaker, Bob Pepi, when in the initial planning stages of adding Sauvignon Blanc to our line-up. Planting in the expanded Cliffside Vineyard (which has a climate warmer then Napa), resulted in a delightful fusion of typical New Zealand-style and Sancerre-style Sauvignon Blanc. This wine was created in our traditionally inspired low-intervention winemaking style by whole cluster pressing and fermenting in 100% stainless steel, followed by a three-month sur lee aging in stainless steel barrels.

2011 was a mild season from start to finish and developed into the latest harvest in our fifteen-year history. The long season helped yield delightfully well-balanced fruit from the Cliffside Vineyard, and produced a Sauvignon Blanc with bright acid and alluring notes of pear, apricot and hints of rose water, complimented by the aromas of grapefruit and honeysuckle. 160 cases produced.
