Two rows of distinct vines, a Cabernet Franc and a Merlot, were chosen to create IV. All but the best clusters were removed to ensure these rows produced bright and elegant flavors, and guaranteeing the production of the finest flavor these varietals have to offer. Once ripe, the grapes were harvested selectively to ensure that only the best fruit was transported. Each bunch was carefully hand-sorted by the winemaker immediately upon arrival at the winery. The specially selected and harvested fruit was then crushed and de-stemmed. The resultant lightly crushed berries were then allowed to rest for five days in a closely monitored cold soaking. Following the cold soak, small batch fermentation was initiated with a carefully selected blend of yeast.

After fermentation, the Cabernet Franc and Merlot were blended with a free press run of our Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The marriage of these four revered Bordeaux varietals created IV, a wine of singular depth and power. Upon completion the great coopers of France and America were contacted to find the perfect mix of barrels in which to age IV. After careful consideration, three new French Cooper Select barrels and three new Missouri barrels were chosen. 125 cases produced.
